An amphitheater was built at the heart of the Liebling Haus. An amphitheater is a circular grandstand structure encompassing a public arena dedicated to uncontrollable live events. In the coming months, we plan to hold meetings, lectures, and performances in the Liebling Haus Amphi, screen video arts, and run a live broadcast studio. The Amphi is part of The School of the City at the Liebling Haus. Today, more than ever, we need new spaces for doing, experimenting, thinking, and analysis - spaces for learning. The Liebling Haus Amphi is such a place, where we can develop a political agenda that isn't detached from
the broader context of life: school, family, work, streets, and squares. A public space for practical, coherent, and socially-oriented discussion. Public debate, a key element in the democratic decision-making process, has been pushed aside in recent years, with opinions and ״alternative facts” replacing knowledge, values, and concrete facts. The pandemic, the leadership crisis, and the collapse of the social structure we are currently experiencing in Israel highlight the tragic consequences of its absence, as well as the great urgency to revive it.

The Amphi opens with two video screenings: 1. Headstand by Maayan Mozes; and 2. political activist and writer Angela Davis' Prison Interview. Both will be projected simultaneously in the same space, divided into two sections. Closing: March 15, 2021.
Maayan Mozes stands on her head in front of the Knesset, the legislature overseeing state affairs, her body protesting against the institution's form and function. The laws award the state the authority to use force against us. The physical resistance in Mozes' video art is a political act, part of a long line of protests, demonstrations, and public performances that use the body as an instrument of refusal and opposition to force exercised against it. It is also an act of perpetual resistance by the artist.
(2011) The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975; Director: Göran Olsson
Angela Davis is one of the leaders of the Black Panthers movement. In 1970, Davis was arrested on a false charge and fought in court until acquitted. The interview we're watching took place in prison, culminating when the Swedish TV crew interviewing her asks whether the Black Panthers will continue to resort to violence. Instead of falling into the populist trap, Davis' response outlines the personal and historical context of the question of violence, controlling the debate, and determining its correct boundaries while being incarcerated.
The School of the City at the Liebling Haus hosts May Omer and her research on Charles Clore Park in Tel Aviv-Yafo. An artist and curator working in London and Tel Aviv, May explores controversial territories and histories through her artistic work, using critical pedagogy and visual sociology methodologies.
LIVE from AmphiTV
A documentary by Swedish director Göran Hugo Olsson following the Black Panthers Party's development, as documented and shown on Swedish television in the 1970s. Many issues examined in the film remain relevant today: the politicization of criminal trials, prisoners' human rights, police surveillance and intervention in civil struggles, the link between militarism and racism, and the crucial role of critical journalism. 92 minutes. English without Hebrew translation. Amphi TV was established as part of the exhibition "Welcome to the Re_Public" which is currently on display at the Liebling Haus, which deals with the public space. In the coming months, we plan to hold meetings, lectures, and performances in the Liebling Haus Amphi, screen video arts, and run a live broadcast studio.
An active political tour at the Liebling Haus' Amphi during the election month. We will watch and discuss the featured works: Amphi and a segment of a 1970s interview with political activist and author Angela Davis. The following discussion will focus on the role of political discourse in the Israeli public sphere, specifically as part of the election process. The second part of the activity includes a speech workshop held at the Amphi, inviting participants to experiment with various rhetorical techniques - speaking, writing, and presenting - and express their honest political statement as part of an articulate speech that avoids typical rhetoric.

During May-June, we invite you to visit four exhibitions of the Framework Program participants, featured at the Amphi on the third floor of the Liebling Haus. Dekel Bovrov, Yotam Michael Yogev, Shay Ben Ari, Tal Avidan, Omer Shach, and Alma Shneor spent the past few months exploring the Liebling Haus Amphi's conceptual and architectural qualities and creating three site-specific group exhibitions.
